Cake Decorating Tips

Here is the post that you all have been waiting for. I hope you find the tips helpful and I hope that for those of you who are into cake decorating you find something that will make your cake decorating much easier.

1. Use wax paper, trace around the pan with a black permanent marker or a pen, the pen will just leave a small dent around. Cut it out then after you grease the pan with Crisco you just place the wax paper in the pan. Then when the cake is done being baked just go around the cake with a table knife. After flipping the cake, remove the wax paper. The wax paper will make getting you cake out much easier.

2. Yes you can make the cake from scratch; but when you're going to be taking the cake out of the pan to decorate it, it's a much better idea to use a cake mix.

3. Before you decorate on the cake you should spend some time practicing, you can use wax paper and then when finished practicing you can just throw it out, or you can use the back of a cake pan. If in a hurry the wax paper would be the best way to go, if wanting to save money the cake pan is the better way to go.

4. When finished with your practicing remember to scrape the frosting off of the wax paper/cake pan because you can always reuse it. (It would be a better idea to use white frosting to practice so that you don't have to worry about mixing different colors up).

5. Always crumb coat a cake before frosting it.

6. When done frosting the cake its time to smooth the frosting. Some people use a napkin to do this because its much faster and easier, however the faster, easier way is not always the smartest way to go, Never, Ever use napkins to do this, There are cemicles in the napkins that will very easily leach into the food even with one small touch. Even though its longer to do always hot knife your cake, its a lot safer.

7. The best tip of all....... Then eat the cake.

I hope this post is helpful to some of you out there. I cannot think of anymore tips right now, so Shalom, and enjoy.
